Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) became the fifth Farmingdale State College women's volleyball player to reach the 1,000 career assists milestone on Saturday, as the Rams won their sixth-straight match with a 3-0 sweep over Skyline Conference foe Mount Saint Mary College (25-22, 25-16, 25-15).
Rende reached the mark in the second set, when her classmate,
Stephanie Nemecek (Farmingdale, N.Y.), put down a kill to give the Rams (10-4, 4-0 Skyline) a 17-9 advantage. Rende now sits fourth on FSC's all-time leaderboard with 1,011 helpers in her 131 sets played.
Rende notched 24 assists on the afternoon, along with 10 digs and four service aces – which tied for the team lead with senior
Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) and junior
Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.). Profeta's 14.5 points (nine kills, .208 hitting, three block assists) led all players, while Keegan tallied nine points after registering five kills on the outside. Nemecek was in on four blocks (one solo) to go with six kills, and freshman
Caroline Lange (Shoreham, N.Y.) put down five kills on as many swings for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. Senior libero
Lana Ventura (Pt. Washington, N.Y.) led all players with 13 digs in the back row, while passing out four assists against the Knights (5-13, 2-2).
Farmingdale State is back in Skyline play Tuesday night (Oct. 15), when it travels to Kings Point, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. first serve at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
