Men's Soccer Drops Road Match at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. | The FSC men's soccer team fell 4-1 in a road Skyline match at SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon. The Rams dropped to 7-7-3 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play with the loss.

FSC controlled play throughout most of the first half, but trailed 1-0 at the break. They outshot the Panthers (6-8-1, 2-7-0 Skyline), 14-5, with seven on target. The lone goal of the half came in the 26th minute as Old Westbury's Henrik Ropstad scored off the assist from Jeffrey Bairs.

Farmingdale State tied the score just 8:25 after the break as freshman midfielder Johnny Guillen (Locust Valley, N.Y.) recorded his second goal of the season.

The game remained tied into the 76th minute, before Ropstad's second of the day put OW ahead.

Ropstad completed the hat trick with just 9:44 to play to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead.

Old Westbury added a late goal as they went on for the 4-1 victory.

FSC sophomore goalkeeper Anthony Martinez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) allowed just one goal and made five saves in 65 minutes played.

Senior Olvin Yanes (Selden, N.Y.) led Farmingdale State with seven shots and four on goal.

The Rams will next travel to play St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at Aviator Sports Complex on Saturday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m.
