FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Thursday, as the Rams fell to Baruch College by a narrow 4-3 margin.
The Bearcats (10-1) took two out of three doubles matches to go up 1-0 in the team scoring, with FSC (6-4) getting a victory in the No. 3 flight from juniors
Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Mikayla DeMaria (West Babylon, N.Y.) when they dispatched Maria Rojas and Jacqueline Moreno by a 6-1 score.
Farmingdale State's singles wins came in the fourth-through-sixth slots, including a win in the No. 5 flight by Loria, as she moved to 10-1 on the season with her 6-1, 6-3 decision versus Moreno. Junior
MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) is now 8-2 in singles play this fall following her 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 against Maria Calvo, while classmate
Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) captured a 6-1, 1-6, 1-0 (11-9) victory via the super tiebreaker at No. 6 versus Rojas.
FSC will play the second half of its back-to-back home matches on Friday afternoon, when it returns to Skyline Conference play in a 4:30 p.m. first serve against Mount Saint Mary College.
