Volleyball Drops Five-Set Match at Bard

Bard - 3; Farmingdale State - 2 (18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 12-25, 15-13)
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. | Middle blockers Kalena Ricketts (Sr.; Cambria Hts., N.Y.) and Mikayla Profeta (Jr.; W. Islip, N.Y.) combined for 42.5 points Wednesday night Stevenson Athletic Center, but it was not enough for the Farmingdale State College volleyball team, which fell to host Bard College by a 3-2 margin (18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 12-25, 15-13).

The visiting Rams (0-2) hit .246 on the match and scored 76 points, including a .512 (22-0-43) hitting line and five total blocks (one solo) by Ricketts. Profeta put down 11 kills on .348 hitting, adding two total blocks (one solo) and tying for the match-high with four service aces, along with freshman Doly DeJesus (Geneva, N.Y.). DeJesus and senior Madeline Stanley (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) led FSC with 14 digs apiece on the back line, with Stanley registering nine kills. Setters Sarah Rende (Fr.; Wantagh, N.Y.) and Molly Miller (Jr.; E. Northport, N.Y.) collected 21 and 12 assists, respectively, with each finishing one pass shy of double-digit digs.

Head coach Kellie Block's Farmingdale State side are back in road action Thursday night (Sept. 7), when they will compete in a 6 p.m. match at Rutgers-Newark.
