Rams Defeat Mount Saint Vincent in Straight Sets

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening and earned a 3-0 shutout. FSC improved to 2-0 in conference play and 4-6 overall. The Dolphins fell in their Skyline opener and are now 3-5 on the season.

In the opening set, the Rams used five service aces and 10 kills to pick up a 25-19 decision. Leading 5-3, junior middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) tallied a kill, sophomore defensive specialist Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.) recorded an ace and freshman outside Doly DeJesus (Geneva, N.Y.) added a kill to give FSC a five-point advantage. Farmingdale State held a 22-19 edge before clinching the set with a Mount Saint Vincent attack error, an ace by junior libero Lana Ventura (Port Washington, N.Y.) and a kill by Profeta.

FSC cruised to a 25-15 win in set two, registering eight of the final 10 points. Senior middle blocker Chrissy Hobson (Bellport, N.Y.), senior outside hitter Madeline Stanley (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) (3x) and Profeta each produced kills down the stretch.

The Rams followed with a 25-22 come-from-behind victory in the third set to earn the 3-0 Skyline win. Farmingdale State trailed 18-13 but scored 12 of the final 16 points to capture the set.

Profeta led the way for FSC with a match-high 12 kills on a .243 hitting percentage, to go along with 10 digs and one solo block. Freshman setter Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with a double-double including 26 assists, 14 digs and 4 aces. Senior middle blocker Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) added 10 kills, while DeJesus had seven kills and 10 digs. Ventura produced a match-high 18 digs and Stanley tallied four kills and four digs in the win.

Mount Saint Vincent's Adelina Elezaj recorded eight kills in defeat.

The women's volleyball team will next travel to defending Skyline Champion Manhattanville on Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 p.m.
