Profeta Records 16 Kills as FSC Defeats Brooklyn in Straight Sets

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Junior middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) tallied 19.5 points on 16 kills, two service aces and three block assists to lead the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Brooklyn College on Friday evening. FSC improved to 3-4 overall, while the Bulldogs dropped to 3-5.

In the first set, the Rams were down 20-18, but rattled off seven consecutive points behind Molly Miller's (East Northport, N.Y.) serves to take a 1-0 advantage.

Farmingdale State trailed 20-15 in the second set and recorded 10 unanswered points, including Profeta's two aces, which clinched the set.

In the third, Brooklyn led 24-22 before two kills from Profeta and one from freshman outside Doly DeJesus (Geneva, N.Y.) put FSC in front. After trading points, the Rams were down, 27-26, but three straight errors by Brooklyn allowed FSC to take the set 29-27 and the match 3-0.

Senior outside Madeline Stanley (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) finished with nine kills and a pair of blocks, while freshman setter Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied a match-high 33 assists and four aces. DeJesus had five kills, three aces, three blocks and 14 digs and junior libero Lana Ventura (Port Washington, N.Y.) registered 16 digs. Sophomore Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.) added five digs and one kill in the win.

The Rams are right back at it tomorrow, Saturday, September 23rd with a tri-match starting at 10:00 a.m. FSC will first take on Ramapo before facing Misericordia at 2:00 p.m.
