Volleyball Lifts Lid on Skyline Slate with Sweep at Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. | With a 58-24 advantage in points on the evening, including 43 kills and 15 service aces, the Farmingdale State College volleyball team kicked off its Skyline Conference regular-season schedule with a 3-0 sweep Wednesday at Purchase College, defeating the host Panthers by set scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-13.

The visiting Rams (2-4, 1-0 Skyline) received double-digit kills efforts from pin hitters Madeline Stanley (Sr.; Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Doly DeJesus (Fr.; Geneva, N.Y.), with the outsides collecting career-bests of 14 and 13, respectively. DeJesus finished one dig shy of a double-double with her back-row passing, while registering three service aces. Freshman setter Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) set career- and match-highs with 40 assists and five service aces, directing a FSC offense that hit .192 on the evening, with junior middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (W. Islip, N.Y.) hitting .250 on the evening with totals of nine kills, three service aces and seven digs. Junior setter Molly Miller (E. Northport, N.Y.) earned two points at the service line, along with passing seven digs.

Head coach Kellie Block's Rams will next play host to four-consecutive home matches at the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center, beginning Friday night with a 6 p.m., non-conference first serve against Brooklyn College.
