Farmingdale State - 3; Lehman - 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Junior right back
Daniel Rivas (Westbury, N.Y.) provided two assists down the flank in a six-minute span Saturday afternoon, while the Farmingdale State College men's soccer team limited visiting Lehman to two shots on target, as the host Rams captured a 3-0 decision against the Lightning.
FSC (1-0-1) outshot the Lightning 8-0 in the opening half, and broke through in the 43rd minute when Rivas's right-side cross found junior striker
Joseph Raso (E. Islip, N.Y.), who one-touched the ball over the Lehman (0-1) keeper and into the top-left corner to give the hosts a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Less than three minutes into the second stanza, Rivas sent forward
Michael Lanouette (Hamden, Conn.) in alone at the top of the penalty area, with the senior calmly finishing past the drawn-out goalie to double the Farmingdale State lead.
Junior midfielder
Anthony Bileddo (Carle Place, N.Y.) provided the third goal for the Rams in the 59th minute of action, when he collected a loose ball from 14 yards out and slotted home just inside the right post for his second goal in as many outings this season.
FSC finished the day with a 16-5 shot advantage, with senior keepers
Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) and
Peter Khazar (Deer Park, N.Y.) combining for the clean sheet in their 82 and eight minutes in net, respectively.
Head coach Chuck Schmipf's Rams are back in action at home on Wednesday, when they play host to Brooklyn College in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
