Men's Soccer Outlasts Yeshiva, Advances to Skyline Championship Final

2023 Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Championship - Semifinal
(2) Farmingdale State 2, (3) Yeshiva 1
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Goals from freshman midfielder Jose Gil Mejia (Guatemala City, N.Y.) in the 7th minute of play, along with a 53rd-minute tally by junior striker Anthoy Bileddo (Carle Place, N.Y.), led second-seeded Farmingdale State College to a 2-1 victory over No. 3-seed Yeshiva University, Thursday night in the semifinal round of the 2023 Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Championship.

With the victory, the host Rams (11-3-4) will now play in Sunday's championship final at noon at top-seeded Manhattanville College, who won its semifinal by a come-from-behind, 3-2 decision over fifth-seeded Mount Saint Vincent. The winner of the title match will earn the Skyline's automatic bid to next week's 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. Tickets for Sunday's final are on sale here, and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance of arriving on Sunday. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, and $4 for senior citizens and children 12 and under; FSC students with a valid ID are admitted free of charge.

Gil Mejia opened the scoring six-plus minutes into action after winning a 50/50 ball 30 yards from goal, before dribbling to the top of the penalty area and finishing into the right side netting past the Macs' (7-5-3) keeper, Kellian Marty, to put FSC up by a 1-0 margin.

Bileddo added his team- and career-high 13th goal of the season less than eight minutes into the second half, after sophomore winger Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.) played through a left-side cross across the penalty area. Bileddo collected the feed near the penalty spot and finished into the right-hand netting to double the hosts' advantage.

Yeshiva pulled one goal back off a corner kick in the 71st minute, when a deflection off the service found Alejandro Saul, who found the top-right corner to cut the Macs' deficit to 2-1.

FSC held a 19-13 advantage in shots, including a 14-5 edge in the second frame, as well as an 8-4 margin in corner kicks. Rams senior keeper Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) made four saves in the victorious effort, while Marty turned aside five shots from the hosts.
