Men's Soccer Falls to Top-Seeded Manhattanville in Skyline Conference Final

2023 Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Championship - Final
(1) Manhattanville - 2, (2) Farmingdale State 1
PURCHASE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's soccer team traveled to top-seeded Manhattanville for the Skyline Conference Championship Final on Sunday afternoon and fell, 2-1. The Rams finish their 2023 campaign with an 11-4-4 overall record. FSC's .684 winning percentage this year marks the highest for a single-season in school history. The previous record with a .636 win percentage occurred in 2008 when the team went 13-7-2.

The Valiants (9-3-6) have earned the Conference's automatic bid into the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.

FSC got on the board early after sophomore forward Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.) pressured the Valiants goalkeeper to force a turnover. Senior forward Michael Lanouette (Camden, CT) gathered the loose ball and buried the goal to the left of the net to give the Rams the 1-0 advantage.

Manhattanville controlled play through the remainder of the first half, attempting six shots and four corner kicks, but FSC kept the Valiants off the board as they took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Each team had chances through the first 20 minutes of the second half but were unable to score as the game remained, 1-0.

The Valiants tied the score with 24:59 to play as a long pass from the defensive end set up freshman forward Keanu Stingone for the equalizer.

In the 78th minute, Manhattanville senior midfielder Matt Rabadi sent a leading pass to put sophomore forward Arjan Delija on a breakaway as he scored the game-winning goal to put the Valiants on top, 2-1.

Farmingdale State had one more opportunity down the stretch but Manhattanville goalkeeper Luis Granados made a diving save on a shot by FSC freshman midfielder Jose Gil Mejia (Guatemala City, Guatemala).
