PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's soccer team rounded out regular-season, Skyline Conference play Wednesday night at the Danzi Outdoor Field Complex, and was unable to convert on a 24-4 shots advantage in playing host St. Joseph's University-Long Island to a scoreless draw.
The visiting Rams (10-3-4, 7-1-3 Skyline) have locked up the No. 2 seed in the six-team Skyline Conference Championship, and as a result have a first-round bye.
UPDATE:Â Farmingdale State will play host to a semifinal match on Thursday (Nov. 2), versus the winner of Sunday's (6) St. Joseph's-Long Island/(3) Yeshiva first-round match, at a time to be determined.
Farmingdale State kept the Golden Eagles (8-7-2, 5-4-2) from putting any shots on target on the night, with all four efforts by the hosts missing the mark. The Rams' best chances for a breakthrough goal came in the second half, including when freshman
Jose Gil Mejia (Guatemala City, Guatemala) put a 25-yard strike from the center of the field off the crossbar in the 62nd minute, before he was stopped on a shot headed towards the top-left corner of the net nine-plus minutes before the final whistle.
Senior keeper
Justin Silva (Bellerose, N.Y.) recorded his school-record 23rd career clean sheet for Farmingdale State.
