Volleyball Bests Yeshiva in Straight Sets

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Fourteen student-athletes from the Farmingdale State College volleyball team scored points Tuesday night at the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center, as the Rams picked up a 3-0, Skyline Conference sweep over visiting Yeshiva University. Scores by set were 25-8, 25-7 and 25-10.

FSC (8-10, 6-2 Skyline) hit .297 on the evening to go along with 17 service aces against the Maccabees (0-7, 0-6), with junior setter Molly Miller (E. Northport, N.Y.) collecting a match-high eight points on six aces and two kills. Junior middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (W. Islip, N.Y.) and classmate Jenya Surlin (E. Meadow, N.Y.) chipped in with seven points apiece, including Surlin's 5-0-6 (.833) hitting line. Freshman outside hitter Bailey Katz (Pelham, N.Y.) and sophomore middle Lauren Offermann (No. Babylon, N.Y.) each registered six points, while junior libero Lana Ventura (Pt. Washington, N.Y.) passed 13 digs.

Head coach Kellie Block's Farmingdale State squad is back in Skyline play Thursday night (Oct. 19), when it travels to Throggs Neck, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. first serve at SUNY Maritime College.
