PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's tennis team fell in Skyline Conference action Tuesday night at host St. Joseph's University-Long Island, as the Golden Eagles bested the Rams by a 6-3 count.
FSC (8-3, 4-1 Skyline) earned points in each of the top-two doubles flights, including the No. 1 tandem of junior
Lien Collings (Merrick, N.Y.) and sophomore
MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), which used a tiebreaker victory to beat the St. Joseph's (5-2, 3-0) pair of Natalie Kopala and Morgan Wind, 8-7. Freshman
Natalia Furchel (Manorville, N.Y.) and sophomore
Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) emerged victorious in the second flight, besting Victoria Corcoran and Madi Beatty by an 8-6 decision.
Furchel won her fourth singles match in a row and moved to 8-3 on the year in the No. 2 slot, using a first-set tiebreaker victory to defeat Anglea Avecillas Martinez by scores of 7-6 (7-5) and 6-1.
Head coach Adam Waterhouse's FSC team is back in action Thursday (Oct. 12), when it plays host to Hunter College in non-conference competition at 4:30 p.m.
