Rams Collect Second Win of Fall at Brooklyn

Farmingdale State - 9; Brooklyn - 0
BROOKLYN, N.Y. | It was a clean sweep for the Farmingdale State College men's tennis team Wednesday night, as the Rams upped their record to 2-0 in their fall finale with a 9-0 win at Brooklyn College.

The Rams picked up all three doubles points, including an 8-1 victory at the top flight by senior Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and sophomore Ryan Hendel (No. Merrick, N.Y.) versus Aymen Kuc and Ryan Badre Hume of the Bulldogs (0-1). Senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) teamed with freshman Ty Williams (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) in the second flight to topple BC's Mordecai Lev and Denis Redzematovic by an 8-2 final, before seniors Michael Baranowski (Huntington, N.Y.) and Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) took the No. 3 point against Allen Mardakhayev and Oscar Huang by an 8-3 margin.

Sabovic (versus Kuc) and Sawar (vs. Lev) won their first and third flight singles matches, respectively, by identical 6-2, 6-0 scores to clinch the match for Farmingdale State. Williams finished next with matching 6-2 scores at No. 4 versus Redzematovic, while Hendel knocked off Badre Hume at the second flight, 7-5 and 6-0. Freshman Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) collected the fifth singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph versus Daniel Hirsch, before No. 6 player Ethan Cintron (Sr.; Oakland Gardens, N.Y.) rounded out the results with a 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 win against Mardakhayev, collecting a 12-10 decision in the decisive super-tiebreaker along the way.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams are next slated to take to the courts for the spring portion of their schedule on March 21, when they welcome Baruch College for a 3:30 p.m. first serve in a rematch of a first-round competition in the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
