Farmingdale State and RPI End in Double OT Tie

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team and RPI ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie in the final game of the 2015 Rams Classic this afternoon. FSC now stands at 2-0-1 on the year, while the Engineers are 1-1-2.

The Rams struck first in the 26th minute as junior midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored off the cross in front by junior midfielder Ashley Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.). Farmingdale State took a 1-0 lead into halftime despite being outshot 6-4 in the half.

With 29:15 remaining, an unassisted goal from RPI junior forward Ali Zumpetta (Mount Laurel, N.J.) evened the score at 1-1. Neither team would score during the remainder of regulation as the game went to overtime tied 1-1.

Farmingdale State held a 2-1 shot advantage in the first overtime and out shot the Engineers 4-1 in double overtime but were unable to score ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

Senior goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) recorded four saves for the Rams, while sophomore Tori Riopelle (Ashburn, VA) stopped seven shots for RPI.

Farmingdale State next will travel to #25 Ithaca for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 12th at noon.
