Rams Headed to Skyline Women's Lacrosse Championship Game

#2 Farmingdale State - 22, #3 Mount Saint Mary - 10


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team is headed to their fourth straight Skyline Championship game after a 22-10 semifinal victory tonight over #3 seed Mount Saint Mary (7-10). The Rams now hold an overall record of 10-6 and will travel to face #1 seed St. Joseph's (L.I.) for the Skyline Title on Saturday, May 2nd at Noon. The winner of that game receives the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

Junior midfielder Nicole Scicutella (Massapequa, N.Y.) opened the scoring off a pass from Shannon McGuinness (Oceanside, N.Y.) for a 1-0 Knights lead. Farmingdale State responded with back-to-back goals in a 29-second span from sophomore attack Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) for a 2-1 Rams advantage.

With Farmingdale State leading 6-2 at the 18-minute mark, Mount Saint Mary notched three goals over the next seven minutes to bring the deficit to one, 6-5, with 11:11 left in the half.

Senior attack Jackie Kennedy (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) sparked a five-goal spurt by the Rams as they pulled away over the next four minutes to lead 11-5. Farmingdale State then held the 14-7 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Rams allowed only three goals as they added eight more en route to the 22-10 win.

Senior midfielder Nicole Marzocca* (North Babylon, N.Y.) finished with game-highs of eight points, five ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers, while Kennedy notched a game-high five goals and added an assist for Farmingdale State. Senior midfielder Alyssa Handel (Medford, N.Y.), senior midfielder Christy Thoden* (Bayport, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.) all totaled five points for the night. Sophomore goalkeeper Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) tabbed eight saves for the win.

For Mount Saint Mary, Scicutella and sophomore attack Katie Gattoni (Old Tappan, N.J.) each scored a team-high four goals in the loss.
