Early Score Gives Rams Conference Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Skyline Conference with a 1-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams now stand at 6-6 on the year, while the Dolphins fell to 6-4, 1-2.

Farmingdale State scored the games only goal in the 5th minute as freshman defender Alexa Orlando (Holtsville, N.Y.) knocked in a corner kick from freshman midfielder Ashley Appel (Bellmore, N.Y.). The Rams outshot the Dolphins 12-2 and held a 3-1 corner kick advantage in the first half. Junior goalkeeper Kelly Hilly (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied nine saves for Mount Saint Vincent before the break.

In the second half, Farmingdale State took 23 shots to the Dolphins' three with Hilly making six more saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) made three saves in the victory, while Hilly recorded 15 saves for Mount Saint Vincent. 

The Rams next will travel to Williams for a non-conference game on Saturday, October 5th at 1:30 p.m.
