Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Game 1: Farmingdale State - 6, Old Westbury - 3

Game 2: Old Westbury - 9, Farmingdale State - 0

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) went 9-innings in a 6-3 win for Farmingdale State in game one over Skyline rival Old Westbury in today's conference baseball doubleheader held in Farmingdale, N.Y. He allowed just six hits and two walks, surrendering one earned run, while tying his season-best with seven strikeouts.

Old Westbury scored a run in the top of the second after sophomore rightfielder John Angelino (Shirley, N.Y.) opened the inning with a single through the left side and would score on a sacrifice fly by senior catcher Christopher DeGennaro (Manorville, N.Y.) to take the 1-0 lead.

The Rams took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Freshman designated hitter Matthew Zsevc (Westbury, N.Y.) scored junior rightfielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) on a sacrifice fly. Sophomore centerfielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) then knocked a two-RBI single to right to score junior first baseman Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) and freshman shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

The next three innings went scoreless before each team scored a pair of runs in the sixth. Both runs were unearned for the Panthers, behind two Farmingdale errors, as they tied the game at 3-3.

Bohanan sparked the Rams runs in the bottom of the inning with a one-out single to left, followed by an Alvino double to left to place runners on second and third. Senior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) doubled to left center to score both and gave the Rams the 5-3 lead.

Farmingdale added one more run in the eighth as Phelan held the Panthers to three hits over the final three innings for the win.

Bohonan finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Alvino was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Scarlato went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and Bergmann was 2-for-4 with three RBI's.

Old Westbury's junior pitcher Tim Walsh (North Massapequa, N.Y.) pitched six innings in the loss, allowing nine hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
