Rams Overpower Panthers for Conference Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team defeated SUNY rival Old Westbury tonight, 75-53, in a Skyline game played in Farmingdale, N.Y. Tonight's game, the "This is my Season" Tip Off, was a fundraiser for the Dominic A. Murray 21 Memorial Foundation, Inc. and a special night of ballin' for Heart Awareness to raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

The Rams held a 34-25 lead at halftime, before shooting 48-percent in the second half and rolling to their 15th win of the season, holding a 15-6 overall record and 11-3 in conference play. Junior guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) led with 19 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Junior forward Keona Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) scored the games only double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists. Senior guard Juanita Chappel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) scored 11 points and finished with a game-high six assists.

For Old Westbury, Kim Weather had 21 points and five steals, while Ruth Vargas pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Farmingdale State will travel to face Purchase College in a conference double-header with the men's team on Thursday, February 10th, starting at 6:00 p.m.
