Rams Defeat Yeshiva for Skyline Win

New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team defeated Yeshiva, 87-66, and head into the winter break on a three game winning streak. The Rams improved to 6-2 overall, 3-0 in the Skyline Conference, while the Maccabees fell to 2-9, 2-5 in conference play.

The game was tied 11-11 early in the first half, until junior guard Ryan Davis (Flushing, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer which sparked a 23-9 Farmingdale State run over the next 5:20, putting the Rams ahead 34-20. Farmingdale State held at least a 12-point advantage throughout the remainder of the half and took a 49-32 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Rams outscored Yeshiva, 38-34, en route to an 87-66 Skyline Conference victory.

Junior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded his sixth straight double-double as he scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Matthews has a double-double in every game he has played so far this season. Freshman forward Ibrahim Johnson (New York, N.Y.) shot 5-of-7 from the field for 13 points, while senior's Joshua Smith (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Robert Adon (New York, N.Y.) each tallied 13 points as well. Davis led the Rams with a game-high seven assists.

Yeshiva was led by junior guard Gil Bash (Tel Aviv, Israel) and junior forward Dovie Hoffman (Tarzana, Cal.) who each scored 17 points in the loss.

The Rams resume play on Thursday, December 29th at 5:00 p.m. as they face Kean in the Randolph-Macon Coaches Classic in Ashland, Virginia.
