Box Score 2 Baseball Takes Two from Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State
baseball team swept a conference doubleheader against Mount Saint
Vincent this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams won the first
game by a score of 5-2. In the nightcap, Farmingdale blanked the
Dolphins, 3-0.
In the first game, Mount Saint Vincent scored first with an
unearned run in the bottom of the second inning. Freshman
designated hitter Kevin Coogan (Bronx, N.Y. / Cardinal Spellman)
had the single up the middle to bring the run home.
The Rams jump back in the next frame with three runs on a junior
first baseman Kevin Curtis*
(Riverhead, N.Y. / Riverhead) RBI single and senior designated
hitter Mike
Labrozzi* (Sag Harbor, N.Y. / Pierson) 2-RBI double. In the
fourth, junior shortstop Brandon Cruz
(Bronx, N.Y. / Mt. St. Michael) flew out to right field, bringing
home junior third baseman Nick Wiwczar
(Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park / Suffolk East), who was on third
after a 1-out triple. Farmingdale added another insurance run in
the sixth when senior left fielder Donny
Moscatelli* (Massapequa, N.Y. / Massapequa) led off with a
double down the left field line. Moscatelli was moved to third on a
ground out, setting up sophomore second baseman Ryan
McAllister's (Miller Place, N.Y. / Rocky Point) sacrifice fly
to center for the run.
The Dolphins tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the
eighth inning, but only managed one unearned run on a junior first
baseman Michael Pope (Massapequa, N.Y. / St. John the Baptist)
single. Famingdale got out of the inning with a 6-4-3 double
play.
For the nightcap, the Rams jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the
first inning. Labrozzi singled home a run through the left side and
came around to score later in the inning on a senior centerfielder

Farmingdale added one more in the seventh with a freshman right
fielder Terrence Bohanan (Patchogue, N.Y. Patchogue-Medford) triple
to left center, scoring McAllister, who was on first with a 2-out
single.
Sophomore Chris Phelan
(Patchogue, N.Y. Patchogue-Medford) got the win in the first game,
scattering seven hits and one run over 5-2/3 innings. In the
second, Senior Ian Solomon
(Northport, N.Y. / Northport / New Haven) picked up the victory for
the Rams, giving up three hits while striking out nine over five
scoreless innings. Senior Steve King
(Freeport, N.Y. / Freeport) secured two saves for Farmingdale,
pitching 2-1/3 innings and striking out three over the two
games.
Both junior Mike Trainor (Patterson, N.Y. / Brewster) and
freshman James Puma (Thornwood, N.Y. / Westlake) pitched complete
games in defeat for Mount Saint Vincent.
The Rams complete their regular-season conference play as they
host Yeshiva tomorrow evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The doubleheader
is slated to start at 5:00 p.m.
