Box Score Rams Take Season Opener Over Oswego State
Farmingdale State - 16, Oswego State - 12
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
lacrosse team defeated Oswego State, 16-12, in the season opener
this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. Junior attack Wes Hubschmitt
(Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and senior attack Sean Maxwell (West
Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) each scored four goals and had two
assists for the Rams. Sophomore midfielder Joe Nacarlo (West
Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) was 14-for-19 in faceoffs and had a
game-high nine ground balls.
Oswego scored the games opening goal 46 seconds into the
contest, but Farmingdale State answered with five straight scores,
to take a 5-1 lead midway through the first period. The Lakers
would eliminate the deficit in the second period and the game went
into halftime tied 9-9.
Trailing 11-10 late in the third period, junior attack Rob
Nosworthy (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) scored a man up goal for
Farmingdale, followed by a Maxwell score with 10 seconds remaining
in the period, giving the Rams a 12-11 advantage.
Farmingdale scored the first three goals in the fourth period to
go ahead 15-11 with 6:36 remaining in the game. The Rams and Lakers
traded a goal each over the remaining five minutes, as Farmingdale
went on for the season opening win.
Sophomore attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park)
had two goals and three assists for the Rams, while freshman attack
Pete Siemsen (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had two goals and
four assists. Junior midfielder Adam Zuar (Lindenhurst,
N.Y./Lindenhurst) was 8-for-13 on faceoffs as Farmingdale was
22-for-32 on faceoffs in the game.
Oswego State was led by sophomore attack Andy Lever
(Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) who scored three goals and had one
assist, while senior midfielder Nick Zoyhofski (Hamburg,
N.Y./Frontier) scored two goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal (Westbury, N.Y./Holy
Trinity) had nine saves in the win for Farmingdale and senior
goalie Judd Robinson (Guilderland, N.Y/Guilderland) had 10 saves in
the loss for Oswego State.
The Rams host Plattsburgh State on Sunday, March 7th at 1:00
p.m.
