Box Score Hubschmitt, Maxwell Lead Rams Past Cobleskill

 Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse
team defeated Cobleskill, 16-10, this afternoon in Farmingdale,
N.Y. The Rams improved to 5-2 on the year and the Fighting Tigers
fell to 2-4 with the loss. Junior attack Wes Hubschmitt (Seaford,
N.Y./Seaford) scored five goals and had two assists, while senior
attack Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had four
goals and an assist for Farmingdale State.
With the game tied 7-7 at the start of the second half, Maxwell
scored on the pass from sophomore Erick Thomson (Floral Park,
N.Y./Floral Park), giving the Rams an 8-7 lead. Freshman attack
Shane Francis (Akwesasne Territory/Salmon River) answered for
Cobleskill with an unassisted goal two minutes later, evening the
score at 8-8. Farmingdale State would score five more goals in the
third period, to open up a 13-8 lead entering the fourth. The Rams
outscored Cobleskill 3-2 over the final 15 minutes, to earn the
16-10 non-conference victory.
Sophomore midfielder Jimmy Owsinski (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings
Park) scored three goals and freshman Pete Siemsen (West Babylon,
N.Y./West Babylon) had two goals, a game-high five assists and
three caused turnovers for the Rams. Siemsen leads the team with 24
assists this season.
Cobleskill was led by Francis who recorded five goals and one
assist, while junior midfielder Brian Murphy (Cross River,
N.Y./John Jay) had two goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal (Westbury, N.Y./Holy
Trinity) had five saves in the win, goalies Tom Knezick and Jake
Lazore had seven and six saves respectively for Cobleskill.
Farmingdale State will host Connecticut College at Hofstra
University on Tuesday, March 23rd at 2:00 p.m.
