Box Score Rams Fall in Skyline Quarterfinals
Maritime - 69, Farmingdale State - 57
Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team fell, 69-57, last night at Maritime in the Skyline
Conference quarterfinals.
Maritime (19-7) took control of the game early, opening up a
20-4 lead on their home floor midway through the first half.
Farmingdale (13-13) was 0-for-9 from three-point range and
attempted zero free-throws in the first half, compared to Maritime
who shot 50% from behind the arc and 12-of-13 from the line. The
Rams went into halftime trailing 40-18.
Farmingdale cut the deficit to 55-39 as junior guard Luis
Charles (Brooklyn, N.Y./George Westinghouse) hit a three-pointer
with 11:02 remaining. The Privateers answered with six straight
points, opening up a 25 point lead, their largest of the game. The
Rams closed on a 12-0 run over the final 3:01 but fell short in the
quarterfinal round of the Skyline Playoffs.
Junior guard Shahee Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead) led
Farmingdale State with 19 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard
Terrence Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) scored 16 points, shooting
6-for-9 from the floor.
Maritime's junior forward Shamair Williams (Brooklyn,
N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) had a game-high 21 points, while senior guard
Andre Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern) scored 20 and grabbed 12
boards.
The Rams await word of a possible ECAC berth.
