Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior guard Terrence Howard
(Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) scored 11 points tonight in his final
regular-season home game, as the Rams fell to Skyline opponent
Purchase College 81-69 on Senior Night. Farmingdale fell to 12-12
overall, 12-7 in the Skyline.
In the first, the Panthers (17-8, 14-6) scored the first bucket
of the game for a 2-0 score, before Farmingdale freshman guard Wade
Cress (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) responded with a three-pointer
for a 3-2 Rams lead, but it would be all Purchase for the rest of
the half, as they shot 63-percent from the field and hit 5-of-6
from long range.
Holding the 42-31 margin, the Panthers kept shooting and held
the lead throughout the second half, as they finished the game
shooting 60-percent from the field and 72-percent from three-point
territory.
Freshman guard Christian Nunez (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains)
and junior forward Andre Martin (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) both
scored 14 points. Howard finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and
two steals. Junior guard Luis Charles (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wingate) had
10 points.
Purchase also had four players in double figures. Junior guard
Michael McNair (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Nyack) led with 19 points,
junior forward Corey Orgias (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury)
had 18 points, and junior forward Marvin Billups (Chester,
N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) and junior forward Charles Thompson (Upper
Marlboro, Md./Charles Herbert Flowerseach scored 15 points.
Farmingdale State closes out the regular season on Saturday,
February 20th against Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y. at
4:30 p.m.
