Box Score Rams Fall to Skyline Opponent Old Westbury
Old Westbury - 60, Farmingdale State - 56
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team fell 60-56 to Skyline Conference opponent Old
Westbury this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams now stand at
10-11 on the season, 10-6 in Skyline play.
Farmingdale State jumped out to an early lead 25-8 lead midway
through the first half. Junior guard Shahee Martin (Queens,
N.Y./West Hempstead) scored 12 first half points, all from behind
the three-point arc for the Rams. Farmingdale State led 35-21 at
the break.
Old Westbury (16-6, 14-3 Skyline) opened the second half on a
20-5 run, taking their first lead of the game 41-40 at the 13:52
mark. The Panthers held a 53-45 lead with 5:30 remaining until
Martin hit a three-pointer for Farmingdale, forcing an Old Westbury
timeout. A missed basket after the timeout and a layup by junior
forward Andre Martin (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) pulled the Rams
within three with 3:29 to play. The Panthers held a five point
advantage until freshman guard Wade Cress (Staten Island,
N.Y./Curtis) hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 55-53 with
1:53 remaining. Four straight points by Old Westbury sealed the
victory and put the game out of reach for the Rams.
Farmingdale State was led by Shahee Martin who had 19 points, 15
coming from behind the arc. Cress scored 11 and had four assists,
while Andre Martin had 10 points.
Senior guard Kristopher Afum (Bronx, N.Y./Park West) scored a
game-high 21 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field for Old
Westbury.
The Rams travel to Bard for a Skyline Conference game on
Saturday, February 13th at 4:00p.m.
