Box Score Late Goal Leads St. Joe's Past Rams
St. Joseph's - 2, Farmingdale State - 1
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer
team fell, 2-1, in a Skyline Conference game against St. Joseph's
College this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams dropped to
6-9-1 overall and now stand at 4-3 in the Skyline.
After a scoreless first half, the Golden Eagles (8-6-1, 4-3-1
Skyline) took a 1-0 lead as senior Stephan Zaech (Farmingville,
N.Y./Sachem East) scored off a quick pass to the center by freshman
Terrence Dzus (Central Islip, N.Y./Islip) at the 64:41 mark. St.
Joseph's maintained a 1-0 advantage until a Golden Eagles player
headed the ball into their own net, scoring an own goal for
Farmingdale State in the 81st minute. St. Joe's would respond 1:10
later, when sophomore Michael Carroll (Patchogue,
N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) netted the game-winning score off Zaech's
corner kick. The Golden Eagles would hold on over the final eight
minutes, earning a 2-1 Skyline victory.
The Rams next will travel to The Sage Colleges for a Skyline
game to be played at Albany Academy on Saturday, October 16th at
1:00 p.m.
