Farmingdale State - 80, Bard - 56
Garden City, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State
men's basketball team won their fourth consecutive conference
game with an 80-56 win over Bard College (1-11, 1-6 Skyline) this
evening. The Rams (4-6, 4-1 Skyline) opened on an 18-0 run and
never trailed the Raptors in the game.
After leading 44-33 at halftime, Farmingdale scored the first four
points of the second half on two field goals by junior guard Shahee
Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead), extending their lead to 15.
The Raptors would pull within 11 points, cutting the deficit to
50-39 on a Greg Gainey (Allentown, Penn./Bethlehem Catholic) layup
with 16:40 remaining. Farmingdale State held a double-digit lead
throughout the remainder of the game, defeating Bard 80-56.
Junior forward Nikita Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Telecommunication)
shot 56% from the field, scoring a team-high 19 points for the
Rams. Martin added 15 points and seven rebounds, while freshman
guard Ricco Oliver (Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys and Girls) and freshman
forward Alby Skrelji (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings) each
scored 11. Junior guard Tymel Ambrose (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) had
game-highs with six assists and five steals.
The Raptors were led by Gainey who scored 11 points, shooting
4-for-6 from the floor. Senior forward Adam Shear (Seattle,
Wash./The Northwest School) scored 10 points while senior guard
Justin White (New York, N.Y./Institute for Collaborative Ed.) and
junior forward Christian Marghella (Closter, N.J./Saint
Mark's School) each added nine points.
Farmingdale State will host Skyline Conference opponent Mount
Saint Vincent on Tuesday, January 12th at 8:00 p.m.
