Box Score Howard Records Double-Double in Rams Win
Farmingdale State - 69, Mount Saint Vincent - 62
New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team picked up their third straight Skyline Conference
win with Saturday's 69-62 victory over Mount Saint Vincent. Senior
guard Terrance Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) recorded his first
double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11
boards.
After trailing 4-0 in the opening minutes, Farmingdale State
(9-8, 9-3 Skyline) went on a 22-2 run, taking a 22-6 lead with 9:23
remaining in the first half. The Dolphins (7-10, 4-9 Skyline) would
cut into the deficit and trailed by only seven points at halftime.
The Rams held a double-digit lead for a majority of the second
half until a layup and made free-throw by freshman center Carson
Miller (New Oxford, Penn./New Oxford) followed by a Dino Johnson
(Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam) three-pointer pulled Mount Saint
Vincent back within five with 7:09 remaining. After trading
three-point baskets, two free-throws by Johnson forced a
Farmingdale timeout as the lead was trimmed to 58-55. Junior
forward Nikita Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Telecommunication) hit a
three-pointer off Howard's pass on Farmingdale's next possession,
opening up a six point lead with 4:42 to play. The Rams led 66-57
with 1:00 remaining and went on to defeat the Dolphins 69-62.
Farmingdale State is now in fourth place in the Skyline Conference.
Junior guard Shahee Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead) scored
a game-high 18 points to go along with three assists and five
steals for Farmingdale. Davis added 12 points, while junior forward
Andre Martin (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) scored 10.
Mount Saint Vincent was led by Miller who had 14 points,
shooting 6-for-10 from the field and 11 rebounds.
Farmingdale State will travel to Yeshiva for a Skyline
Conference game on Tuesday, February 2nd at 8:00 p.m.
