Box Score Rams Defeat Purchase for Conference Win
Farmingdale State - 73, Purchase College - 38
Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State
women's basketball team traveled to Purchase College last night and
defeated the Panthers 73-38. The Rams (15-0, 9-0 Skyline) never
trailed in the contest.
A three-pointer by senior guard Jesse Domes (Glenwood,
N.Y./Springville) for Purchase (5-9, 3-6 Skyline) squared the game
at 5-5, before Farmingdale went on a 19-0 run over the next 11:33,
opening up a 24-5 advantage with 5:50 remaining in the first half.
Farmingdale went into halftime leading 34-20.
The Rams came out of the break on a 16-0 run, extending the lead
to 50-20. The Panthers did not score for the first 9:20 of the
second half until a layup by freshman guard Imani Floyd (Ossining,
N.Y./Ossining). Farmingdale held Purchase to 10-for-51 shooting
from the field in the game.
Senior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker)
led all scorers with 22 points, shooting 10-for-20 from the floor
and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior guard Kamaya Miller
(Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) had 13 points, six rebounds and four
steals, while sophomore forward Dominique Cunningham (Copiague,
N.Y./Amityville) was second on the team with 10 rebounds for
Farmingdale.
Domes led Purchase with 19 points and seven rebounds. Senior
guard Shayla Diaz (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) pitched in with 11 points
and had a team-best five steals.
The Rams travel to St. Joseph's College for a Skyline Conference
game on Thursday, January 21st at 6:00 p.m.
