Box Score Rams Fall on the Road at Old Westbury
Old Westbury - 94, Farmingdale State - 76
Old Westbury, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team fell on the road, 94-76, to Skyline Conference
opponent Old Westbury. The Rams (5-7, 5-2 Skyline) are now tied for
second place in the conference, as the Panthers (9-4, 7-1 Skyline)
gained control of first place with the win.
Old Westbury jumped out to a 22-9 lead over the first eight
minutes of the contest. A three-pointer by junior guard Shahee
Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead) off the pass from Alvin Dennis
at the 10:39 mark cut the deficit to 24-14. The Rams trailed by 19
with nine seconds remaining in the half, before senior guard
Terrance Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) hit a three-point shot,
sending Farmingdale into halftime down 43-27.
The Rams opened the second half on an 8-2 run over the first
1:38; however, Old Westbury answered with an 8-0 run, extending the
lead to 53-35. Despite 49 second half points, Farmingdale was
unable to mount a comeback on the road.
Martin and Howard led the Rams with 16 points apiece. Junior
guard Alvin Dennis (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) had 12 points,
shooting 6-for-10 from the floor and recorded a game-high 10
rebounds.
Senior forward Patrick Bonna (Brooklyn, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln)
shot 80% from the field, including 6-for-8 from behind the arc, for
a game-high 22 points. Senior guard Shane DeNully (Bronx, N.Y./Our
Saviour Lutheran) had 13 assists for the Panthers. Old Westbury
shot 15-for-29 from three-point range.
Farmingdale State will host Skyline opponent Mount Saint Mary on
Saturday, January 16th at 3:30 p.m.
