Rams Defeat Mount Saint Vincent for Skyline Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team defeated Mount Saint Vincent, 79-64, this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams (5-6, 5-1) are now in second place in the Skyline Conference, one game behind Old Westbury. The Dolphins fell to 6-5 overall, 3-4 in the conference after tonight's loss.

The game was knotted at 16-16 before freshman guard Wade Cress (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) intercepted the pass and hit senior guard Terrance Howard (Queens, N.Y./Cardozo) for a three-pointer at the 8:11 mark, putting the Rams on top 19-16. Farmingdale went on an 11-2 run over the next four minutes, extending the lead to 27-18. Mount Saint Vincent would cut the deficit to four and went into halftime trailing 29-25.

The Dolphins would take their first lead since the opening minutes as freshman center Carson Miller's (New Oxford, Penn./New Oxford) layup put his team ahead 33-32 with 17:19 remaining. The Rams answered with a 17-2 run over the next 8:01, opening up a 49-35 lead. Mount Saint Vincent would pull within six as freshman guard Sean Caputo (Staten Island, N.Y./Petrides) hit an open three-pointer with 4:58 to play. Junior guard Shahee Martin (Queens, N.Y./West Hempstead) hit six free-throws over the final two minutes to seal the conference win for Farmingdale State.

Martin scored 10 points and had a game-high 15 rebounds, while junior forward Andre Martin (Bronx, N.Y./Evander Childs) scored a team-high 15 points grabbed nine boards for the Rams. Freshman forward Nikita Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Telecommunication) had 14 points, freshman guard Ricco Oliver (Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys and Girls) scored 12 and junior guard Alvin Dennis (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) added 10 points, shooting perfect from the floor. Freshman guard Jason Kulik (Rye Brook, N.Y./Blind Brook) had a game-high four assists for Farmingdale.

Mount Saint Vincent was led by senior guard Nick DiMaggio (Croton, N.Y./Croton-Harmon/Union) who had 15 points, while freshman guards Shaquille Cunningham (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) and Filipp Bochkov (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) scored 11 points apiece.

Farmingdale will travel to play Old Westbury with first place in the Skyline Conference on the line on Thursday, January 14th at 8:00 p.m.
