Box Score Rams Defeat Sage in Skyline Semifinals

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's
soccer team defeated Sage this afternoon in the Skyline Conference
semifinals. The Rams advanced to the Skyline Championship, facing
the winner of the Purchase and Bard game.
Freshman Jamie Smith (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) scored her
team-leading 10th goal, putting Farmingdale ahead nine minutes into
the contest. The Rams would add to their lead at the 23:29 mark as
Melissa Elie (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) netted Christina Merrill's
(Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) pass. Sophomore Katrina Cerverizzo
(Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) scored Farmingdale's third
goal in the first half, four minutes before halftime. The Rams
controlled the game outshooting Sage 24-1.
Neither team would score in the second half, as Farmingdale went
on to defeat Sage 3-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Studsrud (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan
E. Wagner) earned the victory for Farmingdale, while junior
Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) had 15 saves in the
loss for the Gators.
The Rams will host the Purchase/Bard winner in the Skyline
Conference Championship game on Saturday, November 7th at 1:00pm.
