Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's
volleyball team improved to 5-12, 2-2 in the Skyline after
splitting two matches in todays Skyline Play Date in Farmingdale,
N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent won both their matches,
while Bard College fell in both matches.
The Rams fell 3-1 in the first match against Mount Saint
Vincent. Sophomore Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague)
led the team with 15 kills, while sophomore Alyssa Siegel (Carle
Place, N.Y./Carle Place) had six kills. The blocking was led by
senior Shannon Scudder (Seaford, N.Y./MacArthur) with seven solo
blocks and sophomore Eboni Harding (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville)
with five solo blocks. Sophomore setter Shelby Martin (New Paltz,
N.Y./New Paltz) finished the match with 27 assists. Sophomore
Jessica Zimmerman (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) had 12 digs.
In Farmingdale State's second match of the day, they won the
second set and fourth set to force a deciding fifth set. The Rams
dominated and pulled out to a 6-0 lead before taking the fifth game
15-8. Cunningham led with 10 kills, while junior Renee Millevoj
(Plainview, N.Y./Bethpage) finished with eight kills, and Siegel
totaled seven kills. Harding had five solo blocks and Zimmerman had
a team-high 25 digs.
The Rams will play next in the St. Joseph's College Invitational
on Saturday, October 17th against Lehman at Noon and John Jay at
2:00 p.m.
