Farmingdale State 3, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-13)
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Led by 10 kills and a career-high tying five total blocks from sophomore
Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y.), the Farmingdale State College women's volleyball team wrapped up its Skyline Conference regular-season schedule with a straight-sets victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday night.
Henry's (10-2-18 hitting line, .444) five total blocks tied a career-high mark she set twice in the last seven matches for the Rams (14-4, 9-2 Skyline), while her three solo blocks are the top mark in her career. Freshman right side
Leslie Wandmacher (Bay Shore, N.Y.) floored eight kills against the Bears (10-10, 6-5), with junior
Mackenzie Marquardt (Centereach, N.Y.) and freshman
Valerie Rios Santos (Bronx, N.Y.) adding seven and six kills, respectively. Rios Santos's 10 digs in the back row were second on the team to 16 by senior libero
Allison Salinas (Glen Cove, N.Y.), while senior setter
Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) registered 20 assists, seven digs and a match-high three service aces.
Wandmacher's pair of kills capped a four-point run to close out the first set for FSC, before Henry's solo block ended the second set to double the Rams' edge. Rende opened the third frame with four consecutive points at the service line, before strong serving by Salinas and junior
Jessica Farrell (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) helped the hosts to embark on a 14-4 spurt to capture the victory.
