Gerard is a 2013 graduate of Floral Park High School, where he was a two-time All-Conference player. He is the son of Mike and Kate Farrell.

Senior year...Started 13-of-15 games...Led the team in game-winning goals (2), ranked third in assists (3) and points (9) and fourth in goals (3) and shots (23).

Junior year...Played in 15-of-18 games...Tallied one assist and three shots on goal.

Sophomore year...Appeared in 17-of-19 games...Recorded one assist.

Freshman year...Played in 19 games during his rookie campaign.
