Farmingdale State 18, Mount Saint Mary 7
NEWBURGH, N.Y. | Paced by a 12-point outing from junior attack
Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.), the Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team captured an 18-7, Skyline Conference victory Wednesday night at Mount Saint Mary College.Â
The six-goal, six-assist outing marks the fifth time that Livingston has scored at least 12 points in a game during her three-year career with the Rams (3-7, 2-1 Skyline), and is tied for the fifth-highest single-game mark in program history. Her game-opening goal 3:26 into play marked the 250th point of her career in a green and white uniform, as she is one of just four FSC student-athletes to reach the milestone.
Livingston netted two goals and had three assists in the first quarter to help FSC to a 7-0 lead after 15 minutes of play. Six different Rams found the back of the net in the frame against the Knights (3-4, 2-1), including seniors
Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.),
Jordyn Neu (New Hyde Park, N.Y.),
Krystal Sulin (Nesconset, N.Y.) and
Molly Espey (West Hempstead, N.Y.), along with sophomore
Rylee Valenzano (Centereach, N.Y.). Senior midfielder
Kailee Coppola (Levittown, N.Y.) dished out two assists in the final 3:29 of play, as she set up Sulin and Espey's respective goals.
After Sohm (5g) scored 1:35 into the second quarter, Mount Saint Mary connected on three consecutive goals to pull to within an 8-3 count with 6:31 on the clock. Livingston assisted on Sohm's response with 5:41 remaining, before Espey (hat trick, six draw controls) and Sohm scored 16 seconds apart from one another to send the visitors into halftime with an 11-3 advantage.
FSC answered a two-goal spurt by the Knights to start the second half with four consecutive tallies of its own, as Livingston's player-up goal in the final minute of the third quarter increased the Rams' edge to 15-5.
Valenzano led all players with nine draw controls to help the visitors to a 16-11 margin at the midfield circle, while Coppola (g, 3a) added three caused turnovers in the midfield. Senior defender
Shyann Parker (Floral Park, N.Y.) swiped a career-high four takeaways in front of junior goalkeeper
Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.), who registered five saves against the Knights.
Farmingdale State is back in action at home on Saturday afternoon (April 4), when it plays host to 18th-ranked The College of New Jersey at 1.
