Women's Soccer Plays to Draw Against Mount Saint Mary

Farmingdale State - 1, Mount Saint Mary - 1

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Mount Saint Mary College in a Skyline Conference matchup on Monday afternoon. The Rams moved to 8-5-3 overall and 5-1-2 in Skyline Conference play, while the Knights now stand at 8-4-2, 5-1-2.

After a scoreless first half, Farmingdale State broke through in the 58th minute. Freshman midfielder Annalise Ferraro (North Massapequa, N.Y.) played a ball ahead to senior defender Abigail Borra (Syosset, N.Y.) on the wing. Borra sent a cross into the box for sophomore forward Jenna Biondo (North Babylon, N.Y.), who finished into the bottom-left corner of the net to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.

Mount Saint Mary knotted the game in the 65th minute after a Farmingdale State foul inside the box set up a penalty kick. The Knights converted with a shot into the top-right corner to even the score at 1-1.

The Rams continued to press late in the match. Senior forward Kayla Mendez (Staten Island, N.Y.) had two shots saved by Mount Saint Mary goalkeeper Elizabeth Lennane in the final 13:48, while sophomore forward Katelyn Nunziato (North Babylon, N.Y.) sent a shot just over the crossbar with just under five minutes remaining.

FSC finished with a 29-12 advantage in shots and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks. Lennane made 10 saves for the Knights, while Rams' freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Hoina (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded five saves.

Farmingdale State will return to action on Thursday, October 22nd, when it hosts Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference matchup at 4 p.m.
