NEWARK, N.J. | Two goals inside the opening three minutes of play Saturday afternoon sent Rutgers University-Newark past the Farmingdale State College men's soccer team, 4-0, on the opening day of the Brick City Classic.
The Scarlet Raiders (2-1) opened the scoring 27 seconds after the first whistle on a long ball over the top of the Rams (0-3) defense, before converting a penalty kick following a foul near the left-side end line two minutes later.Â
Rutgers-Newark added insurance goals on a tap in from inside the 6-yard box from a right-side cross in the 67th minute of play, along with another first-touch goal from close range with 13 minutes left, to account for the final score.

Rocco Dispinseri (Dix Hills, N.Y.) made 6 of his 10 saves in the first half for Farmingdale State, which will face The College of New Jersey in the second day of the Brick City Classic, Sunday afternoon at 3.
