Women's Lacrosse Falls Short at Top-Seeded USMMA in Skyline Final

2025 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship - Final
(1) Merchant Marine - 12, (2) Farmingdale State - 10
KINGS POINT, N.Y. | The second-seeded Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team fell, 12-10, at top-seeded Merchant Marine in the Skyline Conference Championship Final on Saturday afternoon. The game was knotted at 9-9 heading into the fourth quarter before the Mariners (13-2) outscored FSC (9-9), 3-1, in the final 15 minutes as they went on for the win. Merchant Marine has earned the Conference's automatic bid into next weekend's NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.

The Rams trailed 3-2 in the first quarter and used goals from senior attack Jules Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) and sophomore attack Markella Moutafis (Bellmore, N.Y.) to jump in front, 4-3.

After USMMA tied the score in the final minute of the first quarter, Farmingdale State tallied three consecutive goals to take a 7-4 edge. Loughran, sophomore attack Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior attack Jordyn Neu (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) each recorded goals in the run.

The Rams still led by three, 8-5, but two goals by the Mariners before halftime cut their deficit to just one, 8-7. Merchant Marine tallied two more goals in the first three minutes of the third quarter as they took the lead, 9-8.

Loughran registered a goal off the feed from Livingston with 9:42 remaining in the third to knot the game at 9-9 before both teams were kept off the board heading into the fourth quarter.

Each team had chances in the first four minutes of the fourth but were unable to score. With 10:44 on the clock, USMMA tallied back-to-back goals within a 34 second span as they took an 11-9 advantage.

Livingston quickly scored for the Rams to make it a one-goal game, but the Mariners won the ensuing draw control and scored on their first shot to regain the two-goal edge.

FSC had four offensive chances in the final seven minutes, with two ending in a save by Merchant Marine goalkeeper Karianna Eagle, and were held off the board as the Mariners went on for the 12-10 victory.

Loughran finished with four goals and six draw control. Livingston produced two goals, three assists and one caused turnover. Loughran ends the season with 68 goals, while Livingston led the team with 90 points. Junior attack Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) added two goals and two assists in the loss.

Junior goalkeeper Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied 15 saves for FSC. She stopped 203 shots in 2025, the third-highest total for a single-season in program history.
