2025 Skyline Conference Softball Championship - Game 5 (Double Elimination)
(2) Farmingdale State 5, (1) Manhattanville 2
CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
PURCHASE, N.Y. | Second-seeded Farmingdale State College defeated top-seeded Manhattanville University, 5-2, on Saturday in a winners bracket game of the 2025 Skyline Conference Softball Championship.Â
The Rams (28-14) now advance to play in Sunday afternoon's championship round, with first pitch slated for 1. FSC will face the winner of Saturday's elimination game between the Valiants (30-10) and SUNY Old Westbury – which knocked Mount Saint Mary College out of the tournament by a 6-2 score on Saturday afternoon. Farmingdale State needs one victory to capture the title on Sunday, while the Manhattanville/Old Westbury winner would need to win twice to claim the crown.
FSC got started in a big way, using a four-run first inning to take a lead that it would not relinquish. Sophomore third baseman
Bailey Hammock (Port Jervis, N.Y.) started the rally with a one-out walk, before senior shortstop
Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) singled through the left side of the infield. Junior designated player
Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) drove in Hammock with a single to center field with the Rams' first run of the day. After sophomore right fielder
Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) loaded the bases two batters later after working a walk, all three Farmingdale State baserunners came across the dish on a dropped fly ball deep in the outfield to stake the visitors to a 4-0 edge.
Leading 4-1 after four innings of play, FSC regained its four-run edge by scoring once in the top of the fifth inning. Capuano (2-for-4, 2 R) led off the frame with a double off the center-field fence, before moving up 60 feet on a fly out by Stolfi. The Rams' fifth run of the afternoon came home in the next at-bat, as sophomore first baseman
Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) dropped down her team and Skyline-high 11th sacrifice bunt to plate Capuano.
Manhattanville added a run on an obstruction call at home plate with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, before sophomore third baseman
Bailey Hammock (Port Jervis, N.Y.) fired across the diamond on a ground out in the next at bat to clinch the game for the Rams.
Freshman right-handed pitcher
Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y.) registered her school-record 22nd victory of the season, scattering seven hits on the day.
Capuano led the Rams with two hits, a double and two runs scored, while Stolfi and Sturtz tallied one hit and one RBI apiece. Marchini reached base on three occasions, working a pair of walks to go with a single.
The winner of the championship will receive the Skyline's automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. For tickets to tomorrow's Championship, head to
