FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Five different players from the Farmingdale State College men's lacrosse team posted hat tricks Wednesday afternoon, as the Rams pushed their winning streak to four-straight games with a 19-6 victory over visiting Lasell University.
FSC (4-2) received a four-goal, two-assist outing from sophomore attacker
Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.), in addition to a four-goal, one-assist output from senior
Thomas Mai (Islip, N.Y.). Senior
Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) and junior
Kamryn Gill (Riverhead, N.Y.) each registered three goals and two assists against the Lasers (1-3), while senior midfielder
Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.) netted a hat trick and dished out one assist.
Mai, Kolano and Gill all potted goals after an initial score by Lasell to start the contest, before the visitors tied the game at 3-all with 2:36 to go in the first period. From there, Kolano's strike at the 1:18 mark started a spurt of seven-straight goals by the Rams, who brought a 10-4 lead into halftime and ended the afternoon on a 16-3 scoring run. Mai completed his hat trick with 10:02 remaining before the intermission, while Gill notched a goal and two assists in the second quarter.
A pair of Giovinco goals sandwiched single tallies by Gill and Kolano inside the opening 10:44 of the second half, before Farmingdale State scored the final five goals on the day in the last 13:20 of the fourth period.
FSC won 17-of-29 face-offs against Lasell, including a 13-of-22 display at the midfield "x" by senior
Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.). The Rams' defense forced the Lasers into 29 turnovers, with sophomore long-stick midfielder
Sean Lawson (Mattituck, N.Y.) registering three takeaways, while Giovinco, Mai and senior midfielder
Michael Cassano (Plainview, N.Y.) all recorded two in the riding game. Senior goalkeeper
Dan Erler (Smithtown, N.Y.) made six saves in his 50-plus minutes in the FSC cage, while classmate
Nick Rizzuto (Bohemia, N.Y.) added three in his 7:08 of work.
Farmingdale State is back in action on its Spring Break trip on Wednesday morning (March 19) in Orlando, Fla., when it faces off against Western Connecticut State University at 11.
