RIVERDALE, N.Y. | The fifth-seeded Farmingdale State men's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday evening with a 4-0 loss at top-seeded Mount Saint Vincent in the Skyline Conference Semifinals. The Dolphins, who remain undefeated this season at 14-0-2, advance to face third-seeded St. Joseph's-Long Island in Saturday's championship match. The Rams finish the year with a 6-9-4 record.
Mount Saint Vincent opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Trevor Pegg converted off a free kick to give the Dolphins a 1-0 advantage. Less than nine minutes later, a header off a corner by Javier Trujillo extended the MSV lead to 2-0.
In the 35th minute, Trujillo tallied his second of the night after a pass from the left wing by Marti Senyer. After an initial save by Rams' senior goalkeeper Rocco Dispinseri (Dix Hills, N.Y.) on the first attempt, Trujillo collected the rebound and found the back of the net to make it 3-0.
Mount Saint Vincent added one final goal late in the half when William Sornin scored off a long free kick from the defensive zone. David Marquez sent the ball ahead, and Sornin chipped it over the goalkeeper's head to push the lead to 4-0.
Neither team scored in the second half as Mount Saint Vincent secured the 4-0 victory.
