Farmingdale State 4, Purchase 0
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Senior
Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) scored her 40th career goal 3:02 into Tuesday night's game for the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team, who defeated visiting Skyline Conference foe Purchase College, 4-0.
Rivera, who added her 41st goal on a penalty kick eight minutes later for the Rams (5-8-1, 4-1 Skyline), is just the third player in FSC history to reach the 40-goal milestone. Ashlee Thompson scored a program-best 49 goals from 2012-15, while Taylor Howard netted 43 times from 2014-17.
Sophomore midfielder
Abigail Chest (Johnstown, N.Y.) assisted on Rivera's first score of the day after intercepting a goal kick from the Panthers (3-7, 2-5), before the Rams carried a 3-0 lead into halftime when junior mid
Taylor Boes (Holbrook, N.Y.) picked out the top-left corner of the goal on a shot from 22 yards away in the 28th minute.Â
FSC sophomore
Kaitlyn Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) got onto the scoresheet in the 56th minute off a pair of passes. Junior center defender
Jessica Zino (Dacula, Ga.) played a long ball to the top of the penalty area, where freshman
Paulina Fonfara (Glen Cove, N.Y.) one-touched a pass to Loughran for her first goal of the season.
Goalkeepers
Kelsie Feingold (Sr.; Commack, N.Y.) and
Sam Richards (So.; Ellicott City, Md.) split time in a three-save clean sheet for Farmingdale State, which next plays host to Skyline opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island, Saturday (Oct. 11) at 2:30 p.m.
