Women's Soccer Defeats Manhattanville on Senior Day

Farmingdale State - 3, Manhattanville - 1
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's soccer team earned a 3-1 Skyline Conference victory over Manhattanville on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improved to 7-9-3 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play, while the Valiants dropped to 5-10, 4-6.

It was Senior Day at FSC, as seven student-athletes were honored prior to the match for their dedication to the women's soccer program: defender Alexandra Coloma (Seaford, N.Y.), midfielder Sydney Kranick (Pittsburgh, Pa.), forward Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.), goalkeeper Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.), midfielder Madison Deskins (Palm Bay, FL), defender Abigail Borra (Syosset, N.Y.) and goalkeeper Kelsie Feingold (East Northport, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State got on the board early when Rivera beat a defender into the box and scored on a left-footed shot from 15 yards out into the top-left corner at the 8:40 mark.

In the 23rd minute, freshman forward Paulina Fonfara (Glen Cove, N.Y.) doubled the FSC lead after converting a rebound of her own shot from 10 yards out.

Manhattanville cut the deficit to 2-1 just 41 seconds into the second half as Johanna Gibson capitalized on a defensive turnover inside the box.

Rivera responded in the 60th minute, collecting a rebound off her own shot and finishing from close range to extend the Rams' advantage to 3-1.

Farmingdale State held the Valiants to just two shots on goal down the stretch as they secured the 3-1 Skyline Conference victory.

Rivera led all players with 12 shots and four on goal, recording her third multi-goal game of the season. Fonfara added six shots (three on target), while sophomore midfielder Taylor Boes (Holbrook, N.Y.) tallied three shots on goal off the bench.

Feingold and Stork split time in net and made two saves apiece.

Farmingdale State wraps up the regular season on Wednesday, October 29th, when they travel to Maritime for a Skyline Conference matchup starting at 7:00 p.m.
