Buckley Posts Double-Double in Win Over Manhattanville

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Sophomore forward Liam Buckley (Manhasset, N.Y.) tallied a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Farmingdale State College men's basketball team earned an 82-61 victory over visiting Manhattanville on Tuesday evening. The Rams have now won six straight games and are 9-7 overall and 6-1 in Skyline Conference competition.

FSC trailed 12-10 early before baskets by Buckley, freshman guard Michael Spisto (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman forward Jordan Tucker (Elmont, N.Y.) put Farmingdale State in front 18-12.

The Rams still led by six, 24-18 with 6:31 to play in the first half and used five consecutive layups to take a 34-18 lead.

The Valiants (6-10, 2-5 Skyline) trailed 38-24 at the halftime break and opened the second half on a 14-5 run to close the gap to just five at 43-38. After a fastbreak bucket by FSC senior guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.), another Manhattanville 3-pointer cut the deficit to only four, 45-41, with 15 minutes to play.

Farmingdale State held a six-point edge, 57-51, with 7:13 on the clock before three points apiece by Spisto and freshman guard James Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) extended their lead to 12.

After a pair of Valiants free-throws, FSC went on a 15-2 run over the next four minutes, capped off by 3-pointers from J. Notias and Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.), to take their largest lead of the game, 80-55.

The Rams tallied one more layup in the final minute as they earned the 82-61 victory.

Buckley shot 8-for-10 from the field and pulled down five offensive rebounds en route to his 19 points and 12 boards. M. Notias finished with 14 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Santos registered 13 points, four steals, two blocked shots and a season-high nine assists. J. Notias produced 13 points and four rebounds off the bench and senior forward Hamdel Mohammed (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

John Ranaghan led Manhattanville with 17 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.

Farmingdale State next heads on the road to play Purchase College on Saturday, January 25th at 2:00 p.m.
