FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC women's volleyball team got back in the win column Tuesday night, defeating Bard College in straight sets. The Rams tallied 25-18, 25-20, and 25-16 victories en route to their second victory of the season.
FSC (2-3) controlled play throughout the first set, before the Raptors (1-6) cut their deficit to 20-18. Farmingdale State captured the set with five unanswered points, including two service aces by sophomore
Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.), a kill each by senior
Jenya Surlin (East Meadow, N.Y.) and junior
Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.), and a block by senior
Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.).
In the second set the score was tied 13-13, but a 6-0 run gave FSC a commanding lead and led to the 25-20 win.
The Rams never trailed in the third set as they clinched the sweep with a 25-16 victory
Freshman
Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led FSC in her return with nine kills and a .450 hitting percentage. Profeta registered a team-high 10.5 points on seven kills, two aces and two blocks, while both Surlin and sophomore
Stephanie Nemecek (Farmingdale, N.Y.) produced six kills apiece. Rende filled the stat sheet with 27 assists, nine digs, five aces and one kill and freshman
Caroline Lange (Shoreham, N.Y.) chipped in with two kills and three block assists. Senior libero
Lana Ventura (Port Washington, N.Y.) added a kill and 12 digs in the win.
Farmingdale State will next travel to Baruch College for a non-conference match on Friday, September 13th at 6:00 p.m.
