FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's tennis team held a 2-1 lead through doubles play Sunday versus SUNY Oneonta, but was unable to hold off the Red Dragons, who defeated the Rams by a 6-3 margin.
FSC (11-5) earned victories in both the second and third doubles flights, with sophomores
Amanda Jones (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and
Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.) turning aside its No. 2 opposition from Oneonta (11-9), 8-5. Sophomore
Mikayla DeMaria (W. Babylon, N.Y.) and classmate
Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.) added a win for the Rams, as they played into a tiebreaker at the third flight before capturing a 7-3 victory.
In singles play, McGullam was the lone victor for Farmingdale State, as she carded a 6-3, 6-1 win in the sixth flight.
