Men's Lacrosse Holds Off FDU-Florham for Eighth Win of Season

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team held off FDU-Florham for a 15-11 non-conference victory on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Rams improved to 8-2 overall heading into Skyline Conference play next week.

The Rams outscored the Devils (1-8), 4-1, in the opening quarter behind goals from freshman attack Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.) and midfielders Connor Murtha (Moriches, N.Y.), Tyler Kollar (Bellport, N.Y.) and Gerardo Maldonado (West Hempstead, N.Y.).

FSC increased the advantage to 6-1 with goals by senior midfielder Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.) and senior attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) early in the second quarter.

FDU-Florham closed the half with a pair of goals before scoring two more to open the third quarter as they quickly cut their deficit to one at 6-5.

Following a timeout, Stock and Giovinco produced two goals apiece in an eight minute span to go in front, 10-5.

FSC was still up by five, 12-7, with nine minutes to play in the fourth quarter before the Devils scored three straight goals to close within two, 12-10.

With 5:49 on the clock, the Rams won the face off and responded with a goal by Kollar, from Kolano, to regain a three-goal advantage.

Farmingdale State scored two of the final three goals as they went on for the 15-11 victory.

Giovinco produced five goals and two assists for a game-high seven points, while Stock ended with four goals and five points. Kollar recorded two goals, two assists and five ground balls and Kolano had one goal, three assists and two ground balls. Freshman defender Sean Lawson (Mattituck, N.Y.) tallied a career-high four caused turnovers, seven ground balls and two assists in the win.

Senior Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) continued to control face offs for FSC, winning 18-of-27 for a .667 win percentage. He entered the day ranked 29th in the Nation for face off winning percentage and 14th for ground balls per game.

Farmingdale State will next open their Skyline Conference schedule when they travel to play Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, April 6th at 3:30 p.m.
