FARMINGDALE, N.Y. |Â Top-seeded Farmingdale State College earned an 87-68 victory over No. 2-seed Yeshiva University in the Skyline Conference Championship Final on Sunday afternoon to capture its second straight title. Senior guard
Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Championship as he led the way on both ends of the floor, finishing with a team-high 19 points and holding the Skyline's leading scorer to just 12 points.
The Rams (26-2) have earned automatic qualification into the 64-team, 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship, which gets underway next weekend. FSC will learn its first-round match-up via an online selection show at

Farmingdale State controlled play throughout the first half as they led 45-37 in the final minute. With 14 seconds on the clock freshman forward
Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied a layup before the Rams registered a steal and 3-pointer at the buzzer by sophomore guard
Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) to take a 50-37 advantage into the break.
Yeshiva (16-12) came out strong to start the second half, as it cut the deficit to just five, 52-47, with 16:30 remaining.
FSC responded with a 6-0 run, featuring points from senior forward
Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), Powell and senior guard
Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.), to regain an 11-point edge at 58-47.
Following a free-throw by the Maccabees, senior forward
Jovayne Walters (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) made a layup and freshman forward
Liam Buckley (Manhasset, N.Y.) tallied a 3-pointer to give the Rams a 15-point lead, 63-48.
Leading 67-54 with 9:18 to play, four consecutive layups -- including two by Hurowitz -- put the Rams ahead by 21, 75-54.
Farmingdale State took their largest lead of the game with 1:47 on the clock on a Santos free-throw go in front by 24 at 87-63.
Yeshiva scored the final five points to account for the 87-68 final score.
Powell shot 6-for-9 from the floor and 7-for-10 at the foul line, while tallying six rebounds, four assists and one steal. Hurowitz recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards, while Evans notched 15 points, eight rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals. Senior guard
Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) produced 10 points and four assists on the afternoon, with Santos collecting nine points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Notias and Buckley had seven points and three rebounds each, while Walters added five points and six rebounds in the win.
